Christmas Tree Lampwork Bead Earrings

Christmas Tree Lampwork Bead Earrings

I made these Christmas tree lampwork bead earrings out of my little handmade green lampwork discs. I just stack them up at bingo! a tree. The base is a brown lampwork barrel bead, the star is a bright red Swarovski crystal bi-cone, and the ear wires are sterling silver. You'll be wearing these from now 'til the holidays!

I lovingly design and make my lampwork beads with soft Italian glass rods and my trusty Mini CC torch. I only do it because it's fun.

All my beads are kiln annealed.

Crafty jewelry: Itty Lovies Earrings and ring, Free crochet patterns

Crafty jewelry: Itty Lovies Earrings and ring, Free crochet patterns

This was the one thing that I was sorry to lose when I stopped selling my crocheted lovelies...

But now that I'm making a tutorial for my little itty lovies, I'm not so sad any more! :]

They are ridiculously simple to make... all they are: little crocheted circles hot glued to earring backs.

YEP.
that's it.

So if you are a crochet newbie and haven't checked out my circle tutorial, you may want to do that now.

Materials Needed:
Crochet thread [size 3]
Crochet needle [size G]
Scissors
Hot glue
Earring posts

You are going to follow my circle tutorial to a T...
The only difference is that you're going to do it with smaller thread and a smaller needle!

Crochet two circles:

Dab some hot glue to the back of the circle [I like to glue on the knot... looks cleaner]:

Attach posts:

And boom:

So easy, and so adorable.
I like them in every color.

Halloween jewelry: Candy Corn earing tutorial
how to make some inexpensive Halloween jewelry with some unexpected materials.
IMG_0894
Supplies:
White, Orange and Yellow Paint Samples
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Scissors
Glue
Wax paper to cover surface
Jump rings
Earrings wires
Jeweler’s pliers or needle nose pliers

1.  Gather orange, yellow and white paint samples from your nearest hardware store.

IMG_0877
2.  Cut strips of each color making the orange strip wider than the yellow and the white.

IMG_0879
3.  Take the strips of paper and glue them down to another paint chip making sure that you glue them down on the wrong side of the paint chip.  Sandwich them between two books and weight them down so you get a nice seal.

IMG_0889
4.  When they are all dry cut out a shape of a candy corn.  Don’t worry about perfection.  Imperfection means added whimsy!

5.  Take some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic and starting on the outside edge and working your way to the middle put a nice thick coat on your paint chips.

6.  Let it dry overnight.  Flip it over and add the Dimensional Magic to the other side and wait for that to dry.
7.  After your piece is fully dry it will have a beautifully thick and shiny gloss coat over it.

8.  To make the edges smooth rub the sides onto a fine grit sanding sponge  That will make everything look neat.

9.  Next using the smallest bit you can find drill a hole SLOWLY through the top of your candy corn.

Unique jewelry: Fancy Ear Cuff, more ideas

Unique jewelry: Fancy Ear Cuff, more ideas

Here is a recent creation- a very fancy ear cuff! I used Czech glass leaf beads. The two pictures shown below show how amazing these leaves are. They change color with the light! Both pictures are of the same ear cuff. The one on the right was taken with a yellow-y natural light, and the one on the left was taken with a white flash. This is my favorite earcuff so far!

As always, the earcuff can be worn with earrings. I know the heart one doesn't match. Oh well. I don't know though- with this particular ear cuff, is it overkill? The pictures below show more of the ear cuff... for those of you who would like to peice together how I made it. I really can't explain.
EDIT: Another picture:
